Date of Passing: Mar 22, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryORRA ELAINE DAWE (nee BELL) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, sister, and mother Orra Dawe on March 22, 2009. Mom was born in Winnipeg on May 19, 1935. She was the youngest daughter of Earle and Mildred Bell's five children - Tom, Olive (Toots), Robert, Bernice (Iris). Mom grew up in Fort Rouge, attending La Verendrye Elementary School, Earl Grey Junior High School, and Kelvin High School. Mom met dad in 1954, and they were married in 1957. Mom worked for several years after, but when it was time to have a family, she gave up her job to be at home with her children. Murray was born in 1964, and Elaine was born in 1967 on mom's birthday. Mom was the consummate mother and wife, always putting her family first. She was a proud and dedicated member of the United Church all her life. She joined Crestview United Church in 1973 after our family moved to the neighbourhood. She was very active in the church, joining the choir, the U.C.W., and serving as a member of the church council, including taking the position of president for one year. Mom was predeceased by her parents Mildred and Earle Bell, brother Tom, sister Olive, nephew Tom and niece Barb. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Ray, her children Murray, Elaine (Pat), one brother Bert (Audrey) and sister Iris and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Grace General Hospital, especially mom's nurses Nikol, Holly, and Alana, who treated her as if she was their own mother. They took very good care of her and made her last few weeks as comfortable as they could be. A service in her memory will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations made in mom's memory to Crestview United Church, would be greatly appreciated (address: 316 Hamilton Avenue; Winnipeg MB; R2Y 2H5).
