FRANCES CLARA IRVING (nee REID) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances on March 23, 2009. Our Mom is survived by her loving husband Norm of 66 years. She is also survived by her son Gord and Donna, grandchildren Doug, Deanne, Joanna; son Don and Judy, grandchildren Karen and Mike; son Alan and Gerry and Al's children Kim, Tracey, Andrew and Lee; son Ray and Gaby, grandchildren Rebecca and Haley. Mom had nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was proud of us all and we enjoyed her immeasurably! She is also survived by her sister Jean Findlay of Shoal Lake, Manitoba. Mom was born on March 10, 1921 and just recently celebrated her 88th birthday. She was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba and had a wonderful childhood on the Reid Farm. She had many stories of growing up of Scottish Descent and of life on the farm in the Depression and of attending Reidville School. She loved life and all who were around her. Her house was always open to all and she loved a visit. Our parents are long time residents of Fort Rouge. She had many nieces and nephews whose lives always held an interest for her and she loved the exploits of the next generation. Our Mom lived a happy and fulfilled life and to say she enjoyed life would be an understatement! She loved to travel, cook and all of her knitting will be treasured! Mom worked at Birks Jewelers and considered it more of a hobby than work. She went everywhere with our Dad and was our inspiration for marriage and taught us how to have friends which she had many. We will miss her and there is no other way to put it. Sadly, our Mom was predeceased by her grandson Matthew Irving and by her siblings George, Janet, Esther and Isabelle. Flowers are gratefully declined and if you wish, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. Our Mom supported the War Amps as it was her belief that it helped children right up until they were adults and brought happiness to those less fortunate who had suffered an injury. As a Family we would like to thank the SICU Unit and the GA5 Unit at the Health Sciences Center for the wonderful care provided to our Mother after her accident. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
