DELMORE BLAINE BJORNSON After a courageous battle with cancer, Del passed away at Riverview Health Centre on March 15, 2009. Del will be deeply missed by his sisters and brothers, Wanda Thorvaldson (Mike), Bradley Bjornson (Darlene), Terry Bjornson (Janet), Kim Bjornson (Brenda), Jackie Chubey (Dale), Paulette Smook (Wayne), Brent Bjornson (Mary), Karla Flaten (Gary); brother-in-law Lyle Anderson, numerous nieces and nephews; his aunt and uncle, Lorraine and Lucien Cote; and the numerous Thompson and Cote cousins. Del was predeceased by his grandparents, Bjorn and Eirika Bjornson and Pedar and Elsa Thompson; parents, William and Norma Bjornson; and sister Debbie Anderson. Del was born on November 12, 1949 at Roseau Budd Hospital, Roseau, Minnesota. He was raised in the village of Piney, Manitoba. At the young age of 16, he ventured off to Winnipeg to his first job with family at Winnipeg Wholesale. He enjoyed many different occupations which took him to mines in Northern Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario. His last employer was Jeld - Wen Windows where he enjoyed the friendships of many of his fellow employees. Our brother Del will always be in our hearts and remembered for his positive and quiet demeanor. He accepted his illness with courage and strength. He was determined to live his life to the fullest during the short time from diagnosis to his passing. He loved gatherings with family and friends and enjoyed hearing about the accomplishments of his nieces and nephews in school or in sports. Our family extends sincere thanks to the teams of professionals at Palliative Care, Home Care and Riverview Health Centre for their special care over the past three months. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Piney Community Hall, Piney, Manitoba with Len Friesen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Del's memory to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9 or a charity of choice.
