Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERMANN (OPA) HILDEBRANDT It is with sadness that the family of Hermann Hildebrandt announces his passing on March 21, 2009, in Dartmouth General Hospital, Nova Scotia, at the age of 75 years. Hermann was born in Chortitza, Ukraine on September 20, 1933, to the late Theodore and Maria Hildebrandt. Hermann, his mother and sister fled from the Ukraine to Germany during the Second World War. From there they moved to Paraguay, where Hermann met and married the love of his life, Anna. After spending some time in Brazil he immigrated to Canada with his young family in 1958. He tried his hand at various trades before finding his career at Monarch Industries in 1961. He stayed there until 1978. He then worked as a consultant until he retired in 1990. In 1994 he moved to Craigmore, Cape Breton. He and Anna spent the following years travelling, camping, fishing and enjoying their grandchildren. Hermann is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna; daughters, Annemary (Frank Butcher), Monika (Paul Cadena), Roswita; son, Peter (Alice); sisters, Elfriede (Henry Dyck), Kaethe (Peter Loewen), Margaret (Gord Thompson); cousin, Kaethe Noll; grandchildren, Brent and Tracy Butcher, Dustin and Chelsea Hildebrandt, Christopher and Stephen Cadena; his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Heinrich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch St., Winnipeg, on Saturday, April 4, at 11:00 a.m.
