Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS ANNAN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Doris passed away after a lengthy illness at the Convalescent Home on March 26, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband Bill (1986) and brothers Stanley and George. She is survived by her three daughters, Cathy, Christie (Leon) and Mary (Steve), as well as five cherished grandchildren, Stacey (Ken), Jill, Kim, Craig and Vaughan. She also leaves her sister Mary (Roy) and life-long friend Margaret. Doris was born in Stonehaven, Scotland on August 12, 1927 and immigrated to Canada as a young girl. Although proud of her Scottish heritage, she took even greater pride in becoming a Canadian citizen. She married Bill in 1948 and together they moved to different locales in Saskatchewan and Manitoba as Bill pursued his career. After settling back in Winnipeg, Doris took a sales position at The Bay which blossomed into a 33 year career, an accomplishment she was most proud of. Doris had a beautiful voice and loved to sing; especially as a member of Sweet Adelines. She was also a longtime member of both Gordon-King Memorial and Grey Street United Churches. She had a real passion for sports and was an avid 10 pin bowler. She thrived on all events from Olympics to Curling to nights at the Goldeyes Park. One of her greatest pleasures in life was sitting at the stadium cheering for her beloved Blue Bombers. Doris was a devoted mother and treasured grandmother. Her gregarious nature and outgoing personality was admired by everyone who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by all. If friends so desire, donations can be made in her memory to The Multiple Myeloma Division of The Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7 (204) 774-7483.
