Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM THOMAS (TOM) EVANS Peacefully, on Sunday, March 22, 2009, Tom passed away at the Victoria Hospital with his family at his bedside at the age of 84 years. Remaining to forever cherish Tom's memory are his wife Christine (Kiczak) of 61 years; son Grant (Lorraine); granddaughter Laurie (Arthur) McLeod; great-grandsons, Quinn and Aidan of Winnipeg; daughter Sandra (Bob) Griesel of Olympia Washington; grandchildren, Gerald (Michelle) and Shannon; sisters, Joyce (Adam) Krusel of Brandon, MB, Enid McCaskill of Victoria, BC, Shirley (Andy) Lamothe of Winnipeg, Margaret (Albert) Arnes of MB and Parksville, BC; sister-in-law Shirley Evans of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Tom was born on March 9, 1925 in Ninga, MB. After completing his education there he joined the R.C.A.F. in August 1943. He served at numerous stations throughout Canada and overseas during the war. Upon his return to Canada he made the R.C.A.F. his career. He then made another tour of France and Germany returning to Summerside, PEI where he retired from the forces in 1972. In 1974 he returned to Winnipeg to reside. In 1975 he was employed by Bristol Aerospace returning in 1987. From 1987 - 1992 he worked at #4 Legion as the Doorman. A memorial service for Tom will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. in the St. James Legion #4, 1755 Portage Avenue, with Padre Col. Maxwell Ryan, presider. Interment will follow at a later date. Special thanks to the staff at Charleswood Care Home for their care and compassion during his 14 month stay there; and to the Dr.'s and nurses at the Victoria Hospital the past week for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, or to the Charity of one's choice.
