DOROTHY EILEEN FLORENCE SMALLEY (nee COUKELL) Mum was born on December 6, 1928 and passed away peacefully on March 26, 2009 after living an active and blessed life involving travel, entertaining, arts, gardening, many pets, and a rich relationship with the Lord and with loved ones. Dorothy grew up on a farm in Souris, MB. Predeceased by her husband Ralph, she leaves to mourn her son Harry (Janice) and their four children, Jenny (Andy), Giles (Adrienne), Crystal and Joshua. She was blessed to be able to meet her two great-grandchildren, Jakob and Aisha (children of Jenny and Andy). Also her daughter, Linda Schreibmaier (Michael) and their two children, Travis and Kelsey. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Jean Blair and her brother Bill Coukell. Dorothy sold real estate for 50 years with Smalley Agencies alongside her husband and son. Mum and Grandma...how we will miss you. The strength and care you showed for your husband despite your own battle with ALS, reminds all of us what true love and dedication really is. You truly were our mentor, inspiration and best friend. You gave so freely and with such love. It gives us comfort that you are with Dad again. Until we meet again...we love you and forever you are in our hearts. Special thanks to staff at the ALS, Brummitt-Feasby House for their care and kindness. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Glen Eden Funeral home, 4475 Main Street on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3B 3K6 in memory of Mum.
