JUNE (DEVLIN) GELHORN -
Date of Passing: Mar 25, 2009
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUNE (DEVLIN) GELHORN 1932 - 2009 Peacefully, with her family at her side, June passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Luther Home after a lengthy battle of both liver and Alzheimer's disease. June was born in the small town of Raeburn, MB and grew up in Rennie, MB. Then relocated to Kenora, ON with the family business of Devlin Timber. She later moved to Winnipeg to work as a secretary and bookkeeper. June married her best friend Gus November 26, 1960. Together they spent 49 years enjoying raising their two children and sharing in the lives of their two grandchildren. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church serving on various committees. Mom devoted her life to her family. Mom will be remembered for her loving nature and gentle compassion. Even though she was suffering from two diseases, she always had a sweet demeanor about her. Remembering her in this way gave us strength through her final days. Her memory will be cherished by her husband Gus, her daughter Kris (Dan), son Kent (Dianne); grandchildren Selena and Dayton; sister Olga; sisters-in-law Jean and Lucille; and step-sisters-in-law Amelia and Eileen. June will also be missed by many other relatives and friends. June was predeceased by her parents Marie and John Devlin; infant son Kyle; brothers, Joe and Ben, and many step-brothers and step-sisters. Our family would like to thank all the staff that provided genuine care for mom at Luther Home, 5th floor at Misericordia Place and the 3rd floor at Seven Oaks Hospital. A celebration of June's memory will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 815 Inkster Blvd. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C4G2 or Luther Home, 1081 Andrews St., Winnipeg, MB R2W4S4.
