KATIE PAETKAU (nee PETERS) Katie Paetkau was born in Arnaud, Manitoba on February 17, 1929. She passed away on March 16, 2009 at Brooks, Alberta, at the age of 80 years. She was predeceased by her father Cornelius in 1977, husband Henry in 1989, her mother Maria in 2005, brother Cornelius in 2008, eight brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law. Katie is survived by her son Reuben (Wilma), children Janean and Brad; daughter Karen (Scott) Barbour, child Carl; daughter Linda (Albert) Velema, children Brianna, Kaylin and Paul; brothers, Peter, Daniel (Judy), Frank, David and Henry (Irene); sisters, Marie (John) Zacharias, Margaret (Werner) Pauls, Helena Bewsky, Susie Thiessen and Betty (David) Siemens; in-laws, John Janzen, Henry Thiessen, George (Edna) Paetkau, Marie Neufeld and Paul Paetkau along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in the Gem Mennonite Church. Rev. Andrew Berg officiated. Interment followed at Gem Cemetery. In memory of Katie, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to MS Society of Canada, 833 A Kingsway Avenue SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 2X5.
