KATIE (KAY) NIMCHUK (nee LEBITT) On March 23, 2009 after a short illness Kay graciously passed on to join her beloved husband Paul (died 1987). She was currently living in Penticton, BC. Kay was born on March 7, 1917 at Hazelridge and married Paul in 1937. They operated Kay's General Store in Anola where they were involved in numerous organizations, clubs and civic groups. She was particularly active in The Anola Ukrainian Ladies Club and The Chatelaine Ladies Club. Upon retiring in 1967 Kay and Paul moved to St. Boniface where they were both very involved with the Men's and Ladies' Clubs of The Holy Trinity Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She continued to live there until 1999 when she moved to Edmonton to be close to her son and his family. She moved to Penticton in 2005 for the same reason. Kay was predeceased by Paul; her parents Eva and Fred; her sister Margaret and brothers Steve, John and Peter. She is survived by her sister Stella (Lloyd McLeod) of Tignish, PEI; her son Ron (Lovie nee: Pakarnyk) of Penticton, BC and beloved granddaughter Anastasia of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Missing Anastasia's upcoming wedding was Kay's only regret. Cremation has occurred. To honour Kay's wishes, a private family interment will take place in the near future, in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers take a mutual acquaintance to Tim Horton's for coffee, this would make her smile. Don't be sad that I'm gone. Be happy I was here.
