SISTER AGNES LAMBERT, SNJM (Sister Marie-de-St-Pierre) Sister Agnès Lambert died peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2009, at Taché Centre, St. Boniface, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Emile (Thérèse), René (Eugénie), Roger, Marcel and her sisters, Jeanne (L. Pagé), Thérèse, Eva, and a sister-in-law, Irène. To mourn her passing, Sister Agnès leaves her brothers, Georges and Ovide, her sisters, Irène, SNJM, Alma (R. Forcier), Clara (Lionel Carrière), Lucille, Lucienne (L. Goulet), Lorraine (F. Joubert) and the members of her Congregation. Agnès, the fourth of sixteen children, was born to Alice Martin and Raoul Lambert on June 15, 1921 in Saint-Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba. At a very young age, she helped her parents take care of her brothers and her sisters. This is how she learned to sew, to cook and be a good homemaker. Later, to further her knowledge and her abilities, Agnès took courses in Home Economics. On July 24, 1941, Agnès entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in Outremont, QC. On August 5, 1948, Agnès, now known as Sister Marie-de-St-Pierre, made her final commitment by pronouncing her final vows. After her religious profession on August 5, 1943, Sister Marie-de-St-Pierre came back to Manitoba. At first, she taught at Ecole Sacré-Coeur in Winnipeg and then went to Ste Agathe where she was mistress of boarders. As seamstress, cook, homemaker and hairdresser, Sister served her community in Keewatin, in Somerset and at St. Joseph's Academy, St. Boniface. She devoted herself during many years until her health failed. During her stay in the infirmary, Sister continued to visit the sick Sisters, bringing them comfort and praying with them. The family and the Sisters wish to express their gratitude to the Staff of the Unit 3DE, Taché Centre for the compassionate and loving care given to Sister Agnès during this past year. In 2005, from the infirmary at Résidence Jésus-Marie, Sister Agnès moved to Résidence Despins. On February 29, 2008, she was admitted at Taché Centre where she remained until her death. A Liturgy of the Word will take place at Résidence Despins, 151 Despins Street in St. Boniface on Sunday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated the following day at the same address at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery, Archibald Street.
