ELFRIEDE A. IWAN September 24, 1930 March 27, 2009 We are sad to announce the passing of Elfriede (Elfie) Iwan at the Pinawa Hospital. She was peacefully taken with family and friends at her side. Elfie was predeceased by her mother, Gertrud Gelling. She leaves behind her friend and companion, Leonard St. Germain; her sisters, Renate Trinkaus, (Jurgen) Marion Petri (Reinhard) of Berlin, Germany and numerous cousins and nieces. Elfie was born in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1957 where she worked in a number of fields. She was very successful in real estate for a number of years. Her love in life was her animals. She was a member of the CKC and won many awards for her line of Great Danes. She raised many litters of puppies and kittens throughout the years and considered them her kids . She enjoyed nature and her favorite spots in the North Trail where she gathered mushrooms. She loved cooking, trying out new recipes, and having friends over for a special meal. To Dr Edwin Spence who brought her through so many medical difficulties, to the staff and all the nurses of Pinawa Hospital who were so kind and compassionate while she was in their care, we thank you from the bottom of our heart. At her request, cremation has taken place and a private gathering will take place at a later date. If you wish, you may make a donation in her memory to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
