He came with his parents and family to St. Georges in 1929 to establish the Bouvier General Store. Dad attended Allard School in St. Georges, studied commerce at St. Boniface College and attended Russell Business College in 1939. Dad worked in the family store in St. Georges until shortly after he and Mom were married in 1943. Dad was proud to have served Manitoba Hydro for 28 years on the Winnipeg River System, and even happier to have collected their pension for nearly 30 years. He served the area as local insurance agent for 50 years, the last 20 years with the Co-Operators. Dad held office as Secretary Treasurer of the Dupont and Allard School Districts for many years and was the last surviving member of the first board of trustees of the Agassiz School Division, elected in 1959 and served his community as local trustee for nearly 20 years. Dad was also the first manager of the St. Georges Caisse Populaire organized in 1944. Dad, along with his two brothers-in-law, Carl Vincent and Raoul Boisjoli purchased the St. Georges Creamery Company in the late 1940s. Dad delivered milk along his route from St. Georges to Lac du Bonnet. Dad joined the Knights of Columbus on June 9, 1939 and served as Grand Knight of the Pine Falls council in 1964. In 1944, he joined the Fourth Degree as a Charter Member of the new Tache Assembly in Winnipeg. He served in many executive offices of the Assembly over a 65-year period. Other continuing involvements included membership at the St. Boniface Historical Society and Director of the Franco-Manitoba Cultural Centre. Dad was a strong supporter of all St. Georges community projects including the recent construction of the new Allard Library and the renovations and upgrading of the St. Georges Church Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1 at the St. Georges Roman Catholic Church. Prayers will precede the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. and cremation will take place following the service. There will be no public viewing. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your donation in Dad's memory to the Allard Library, St. Georges, Manitoba R0E 1V0. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the home care team who took care of Dad for nearly five years in his home, the staff of the Pine Falls General Hospital and Foyer Valade in St. Vital for the great care in the past year.
