ERNEST STEPHEN HAWRYSZKO On March 28, 2009, Ernie passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Ernie was born October 30, 1936 to Stephen Hawryszko and Katherine Masnyk. He was predeceased by his first wife Olga. He is survived by daughters, Lynda and Ivy (Frank) Cicco; grandchildren, Christopher and Braeden, wife Gabrielle Courchaine; step-children, Daniel (Brigitte), Michel (Teresa) and stepgrandchildren; David, Alissia and Valerie. Ernie also leaves behind brother Julian (Sylvia), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. After a long career as facilities maintenance manager with the City of Winnipeg Parks Department, Ernie spent his retirement years helping relatives, neighbours and friends with renovation projects. He especially enjoyed taking his family to such places as Disneyworld and Las Vegas. Ernie was very devoted to Lynda's well being and spent a lot of time ensuring her happiness with DASCH (Direct Action in Support of Community Homes). The staff at DASCH will miss his support. At Ernie's request, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral service will be held. A reception in his memory will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home (455 Lagimodiere Blvd., one block south of the Royal Canadian Mint) on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In his memory, donations may be made to DASCH at 1-117 Victor Lewis Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1J6.
