Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANITA OLIVINE SOROBEY Anita Olivine Sorobey passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 29, 2009 surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children Joy (Rockne) Beatty; Jacqueline (Don) Johnson; Janice (Vincent) Mikuska; Michael (Jennifer) Sorobey; Linda (Dennis) Alvestad; and 14 grandchildren: Cameron (Megan) Johnson; Leesa Johnson (Marco); Jessica Beatty; Michelle Johnson; Branden Beatty; Kellsey Dawn (Eric) Scheepers; Rebecca Beatty; Alaina Mikuska; Stefan Mikuska; Katie Sorobey; Joel Alvestad; Owen Sorobey; Leah Alvestad; Nolan Sorobey; and great-granddaughter Linnae Johnson; and special pet Ginger. Anita was predeceased by her husband Ed Sorobey and was the last surviving member of her family. She was born the youngest of eight in Ste. Elizabeth, Manitoba on August 2, 1928. The majority of her life was spent in Winnipeg where she met her husband Ed and raised a family of five children. Outside of her home, Anita worked in retail and could be found playing bridge every Tuesday and Thursday. She was also physically active going for daily walks and participating in aqua-size classes. When you met Anita, it didn't take long to appreciate her special nature. Her strength shone through in her kind, gentle, and selfless ways. Whether it was playing cards, (Mitaines and Bridge in particular), working her magic with a sewing machine or opening her heart and home to family and friends, Anita did so with a genuinely supportive and quiet character. Behind a caring smile and with quiet laughter, Anita lived life with an open mind that didn't judge and could always empathize. Because of this special quality she was a friend and confidant to many. Her legacy will continue, as the person she was serves as a role model for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Lecuyer for her personal touch even becoming someone Anita considered a friend. A celebration of Anita's life will take place Thursday, April 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
