MARIA LOBAS (nee MASYK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Lobas on March 29, 2009 peacefully at the Seven Oaks General Hospital after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Anna Masyk. She is survived by her husband Miroslaw, son Roman (daughter-in-law Leslie), brother Roman Masyk and relatives in Winnipeg and Ukraine. Maria was born September 9, 1928 in selo Bilczezlote, povit Borcziw, Western Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1937 to Gardenton, Manitoba with her mother to the farm her father had bought for their arrival. She later moved to Winnipeg in 1945 and married Miroslaw in 1951. Maria was a devoted wife and mother. She was a very caring and generous person and was always there if you needed her. Prayers will be held 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 31 (tonight) at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 1 also at the Chapel with interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. J. Patel and the nurses of the third floor Unit 4 for their care and kindness.
