BONNIE LYNN MCKELLAR (nee Wachal) October 2, 1950 - March 26, 2009 Bonnie passed away at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC with her family by her side, after a lifetime battle against complications from Juvenile Diabetes. Bonnie was born and lived most of her live in Winnipeg, MB. She lived life to the fullest. She took a daring ride in a glider and earned her license (an adventure she didn't tell her mother about until years later). Bonnie's best years began on December 31, 1987 when she married the love of her life: her Willie . These years were filled with happiness and laughter. She loved to play jokes on Willie. His work lunchbox became a source of amusement to everyone at CN, as Bonnie would often leave a surprise (one such surprise was a cheese sandwich filled with the still-wrapped cheese slice!). Bonnie loved her husband, her family and her many dogs. She took great joy in rescuing dogs. She'd always say Isn't my dog beautiful and the dogs always became beautiful with Bonnie's nurturing. She was an avid garden designer; Willie was her willing gardener moving plants wherever her artistic eye desired. Bonnie also loved Christmas; her Christmas Village grew every year and she took great joy this past year when everyone noticed the new ski hill. Bonnie and Willie moved to Maple Ridge, BC in October of 2006 to be close to her family. She leaves to mourn her loving husband William, mother Dorothy, sisters Wendy (Bob), Jill (Craig), Frank (Cindy) and her many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the medical staff who cared for Bonnie over the years; special thanks to Dr. Brian Penner and Dr. Rabson. A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held at her home in Maple Ridge on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. God looked around his garden And found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face, He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never Get well on earth again, He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered, Peace be thine. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Expressions of sympathy can be made at www.gardenhill.ca

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Hi Cappy: It is with a heavy heart that I send my sincerest condolences. When J J, Jonesy, told me of Bonnie's passing I didn't want to believe him, then I remembered what a devotional I had read a day or two before had said and that our time on earth is not in our hands but in Gods hands and He knows when to call us home to Heaven. It is so sad to hear of this news,I pray God will comfort you,Bless you Bill....Andy Anderson - Posted by: Glen Anderson (Friend) on: Apr 02, 2009
