Although I know 53, I often remember Mrs Drinnan as the first person that comes to mind when I reflect on my elementary years. She tried to be strict but I only saw a kind-hearted woman. I probably gave her some tough times, but she left a lasting impression on me. I just googled her name and learned of her passing and it brought a tear to my eye. So I felt compelled to write a tribute to her. I never understood her dedication to Jewish schooling although she herself was not Jewish. I think that made me lover her even more. Goodbye Mrs Drinnan. Thankyou for taking care of me and teaching me. - Posted by: Joshua Kurtz (Elementary Student) on: Aug 04, 2025

I worked with Ethel for many years at Talmud Torah School in Winnipeg. I always found her to be a warm and friendly person who came to work every day with a smile on her face. She was loved by her students and was a beautiful addition to our staff. May her memory be blessed. - Posted by: linda feuer (former colleague) on: Mar 25, 2020

Mrs. Drinnan was my first Canadian teacher at the Talmud Torah, and the only teacher to ever come to my first birthday party (11th) in Canada. That was the first time I saw her without a pencil gripped between her teeth. She was smiling and laughing with my parents despite their broken English. I will always remember you with kindness, Mrs. Drinnan. - Posted by: Irina Mouritsen (former student ) on: Jun 11, 2012
