CONSTANCE ETHEL LEITCH Connie died peacefully on March 26, 2009, at Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 95 years. She was born on July 14, 1913, in Gunton, MB to parents Ethel and Jim Leitch of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Grace Leitch in 1980, by her nephew Brent Leitch in 1953 and by her brother Bill in January of this year. Connie grew up in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg. She graduated from Wesley College and received her professional teaching certificate in 1938. After a number of years of teaching in rural Manitoba schools, Connie moved back to Winnipeg where she spent the majority of her teaching career as an adjustment teacher. She was a member of the Winnipeg Seniors Choir, volunteered at the Manitoba Museum, attended classes at the University of Winnipeg and travelled throughout North America, Europe and Asia. She enjoyed knitting, watching and feeding birds, and caring for her plants. For more than 50 years she was an active member of Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge No. 2, I.O.O.F. Throughout her life, she was a loving aunt to her neice and nephew and took an active interest in their lives and those of their pets.
