MARTHA VANDENBERGHE November 11, 1940 - March 28, 2009 Martha is survived by her husband Eugene, sons Richard, Garry (Alanna), Jerry (Barb), daughter Jody, and brother-in-law/son Mark (Emilie). Nana will be sorely missed by her grandchildren and honourary pallbearers Garrick, Ashlyn, Kendra, Tyler, Christopher and Jared. She is also survived by many loving brothers, sisters, nieces , nephews and friends. Martha was predeceased by her parents Helen and Deidrich Reimer, brother and sister-in-law Harold and Della Reimer, mother-in-law and father-in-law Sidonie and Cyrille Vandenberghe, brother-in-law Joe Gjura and sister-in-law Violet Sepke. Mom was born in Altona, MB on Remembrance Day, 1940. Martha married Eugene on September 11, 1957 and together they began a family in Oak Bluff. They later moved to the Charleswood/Headingley area. The last few years of her life were spent travelling with Eugene. However her true thrill in life was right at home with her family, Mom lived for her family. She enjoyed many school concerts, recitals and many sporting events. The most important sporting event being curling. This was a truly Vandenberghe sport. From club sport teams to Special Olympics to the world curling championships. She would enjoy a good fight to wear one of the jackets Garry won. Nothing made her happier than knowing that her family was happy and looked after. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and were the light of her life. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of strength of family. Mom worked at Woolco in her earlier years and later worked at the Revenue Canada Taxation Centre until she retired. Although she suffered through numerous health problems over the past 20 years, it was her family who came first. A Celebration of Mom's Life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Friday April 3, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with interment and reception to follow. Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a difference. They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver. Blessed are those who knew you, Mom! We love you! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
