RALPH PAUL BIELA It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Biela. Ralph's year long illness ended in his home on March 31, 2009, at the age of 55. Ralph was well known for his kindness and humour, helpfulness towards many, and skill and resourcefulness. Ralph was predeceased by his father Paul, his mother Irma, and father-in-law Dood Cristall. Ralph was a much-loved, thoughtful and committed husband to Frances (Cristall) and was a very proud father to Gary. Ralph's memory will be cherished and he will be missed by his mother-in-law Faith (Cristall), his sisters Gail, Paulette and Sylvia, his brothers Richard and Paul, brothers-in-law Jim, Allan and Dan and their families, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Ralph will certainly be dearly missed by many caring and valued friends and neighbours. Ralph's family also wish to extend inexpressible gratitude and appreciation toward many, including Dr. Kevin Coates, Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk and his primary care nurse Marissa, the pharmacists and staff at the Henderson Highway Shoppers Drug Mart, and the staff at Stars of Promise Child Care Centre, who supported Frances with kindness. Ralph was wonderfully and empathetically cared for at his home by nurses in the palliative care program of the Winnipeg Health Authority and by healthcare aides through Access River East. Their kindness and support towards the family made it possible for Ralph to be with us at home at the last and will not be forgotten. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 4, at the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3N 1Y2 or to Habitat for Humanity, 60 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2J 0V8.
