Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND ANDREW DAWE It is with shock and great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear dad Ray Dawe on Monday, March 30, 2009. Dad was born in Winnipeg on January 31, 1931. He was the youngest of William and Sophia Dawe's four children - Winnie, William (Bill), and Marjorie. Dad grew up in St. James, attending Britannia School, and Assiniboine High School. Dad met mom at Club 301 in 1954. They were married in 1957 and started their family several years later. Murray was born in 1964, and Elaine was born in 1967. Dad and mom were married for almost 53 years. Dad spent the majority of his working life at the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation where he remained until retirement. Dad started as an adjuster in 1971 and eventually worked his way up to be a claims centre manager. By the time he retired, he had been a manager at every claims centre in Winnipeg, as well as one in Portage la Prairie. Dad was an avid gardener, planting a big vegetable garden every summer. Dad also loved 10-pin bowling, fishing, wildlife, and astronomy. Dad was predeceased by his wife Orra, parents William and Sophia Dawe, sisters Winnie and Marjorie and brother William. Left to treasure dad's memory is his son Murray, daughter Elaine, son-in-law Pat and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave. on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made in dad's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society (45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3) or to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter (3062 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1), would be greatly appreciated.
