JOHN (JACK) L. TALBOT December 6, 1921 - April 1, 2009 On April 1, 2009 John Talbot, aged 87 years, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at the Grace Hospital. John will be sadly missed by his wife Margo of almost 60 years; their daughters Naomi Talbot in Winnipeg and Laura (Dave) Talbot-Allan in Kingston; two grandchildren Colleen (Mark) Collins in Kitchener and Glenn Allan in Seattle; and his first great-grandchild Cooper. He is also survived by his brother Harley (Bob) and wife Ethel of Kelowna; his sister-in-law Alice and husband Lloyd Jensen in Winnipeg, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. John grew up in Elmwood. He joined the Air Force after completing studies at St. John's High School. After the Second World War he became a member of the Winnipeg Police Force, where his father had also been an officer. On July 2, 1949 John married his sweetheart Margo whom he met right after returning from the Air Force. He served with the Winnipeg Police for over 36 years, retiring in 1981. John enjoyed his retirement with quiet pursuits mainly at home, with Elmwood friends, his church and his Lodge. He was a Mason for over 50 years, with the St. John's Masonic Lodge. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital for their compassionate care during John's several stays. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 600 Minto Street, with viewing at 12:00 p.m. until the service, followed by interment at Chapel Lawn.
