EVELYN MELNYK (nee KNOPF) We are honouring the life of our dear mother Evelyn Melnyk (nee Knopf), who passed peacefully on March 28, 2009 at the Ste. Rose Hospital. She leaves behind her loving family Janice Kristjanson and husband Walter of Ste. Rose, Louise Broesky and husband Richard of Niverville, Shelley Foss and husband Darren of Selkirk. She will also be greatly missed by her four grandchildren, Jason, Daryl and Lindsay Broesky and Nicholas Foss and many extended family and friends. Evelyn was born June 12, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Herbert and Lillian Knopf of River Hills, MB. She also leaves one sister Dorothy and husband Art of Victoria, BC, sister-in-law Linda in Lac du Bonnet, predeceased by her brother Nelson Knopf and husband Nick Melnyk. She was married in 1946 in River Hills, MB and shortly moved and started a small business in the Powerview / Pine Falls area, where she raised her children. She then retired in the Selkirk area where she kept busy volunteering at the hospital, and loved helping others. Her love for her family and friends was only matched by her love for animals. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her! Cremation has taken place, and memorial service will follow this summer as request of family. We wish to thank Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Services in Dauphin, MB, the many doctors, nurses and staff at the Ste. Rose Hospital and friends for making this difficult time easier.
