EDWARD GUSTAV SPRINGER Peacefully on April 4, 2009 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, with family by his side and after a lengthy battle with cancer, Ed Springer of Faulkner, MB went to his eternal home at the age of 76 years. Ed is survived by brothers Herb (Marilyn), Harold (Karen), Ernie (Elsa), sister-in-law Ann, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Adolph and Natalie, brothers Art, Bill, sister Winnie, sister-in-law Alma and brother-in-law Harry Baker. Ed was born on December 8, 1932 and was raised on the family farm in Faulkner. Ed and his brothers Herb and Harold took over the family farm in 1955. In 1983 they purchased the Proux Ranch in Waterhen and farmed until they sold the ranch and retired in 1998. Although he was retired, he was always still the Boss at the original farm where Bill and Joan Springer took over. Ed enjoyed baseball, curling, hunting and his TV sports. He also enjoyed a good competitive game of cards - as long you let him win. He will be greatly missed and remembered by everyone who knew him. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Faulkner Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Faulkner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Springer, Alan Springer, Donnie Springer, Brent Springer, Tyler Bobier, Arron Bobier. Honourary pallbearers will be all his hunting buddies. Thank you to Joan for becoming Ed's main provider, if it wasn't for the care you provided for him, we would not have enjoyed so many extra years with him. Thank you to Darlene Springer and the Lakeshore General Hospital for your many years of ongoing care given. Also a special thank you to Dr. Harris and the CancerCare unit. Flowers are greatly declined, donations may be made in Ed's memory to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
