THOMAS HENRY HARCUS On April 4, 2009 Tom Harcus passed away at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, John (Trudy) Harcus, Jane (David) Turner, Tom Harcus and David (Shirley) Harcus. Dad also leaves 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother John, sister Jessie, great-grandson Marvin Harcus and his beloved wife Vivian. Dad was born and raised on the family farm south of Stonewall. He lived his entire life on the farm except for a period during the depression when he worked in the mines in Sudbury. Returning to the farm he married Vivian Lillies in 1941 and together they raised their children on the family farm. They were married for 59 years before Mom's passing. Dad was interested in sports, politics and world affairs. Mostly, he was dedicated to his work on the family farm and his commitment to family. Dad was fiercely independent, living on his own, in the house he was born in, until January 2008 when he entered Rosewood Lodge. He was known for his honesty, hard work and stubborn Scottish ways. He was never in a hurry, always willing to help and extremely modest. He taught by example and lived his life in a simple unassuming manner. Mom and Dad had many good friends and neighbours in the Tecumseh area and shared many years of happiness. They especially enjoyed their trips with the Rutherfords and the Sheldons. They also had a memorable trip to Scotland and the Orkney Islands with the Stewarts. The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Lodge for their wonderful care over the past 15 months. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
