Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE GARDINER On Saturday, April 4, 2009, Irene went home to be with her Lord and Savior, at the age of 73 years old. She leaves to cherish her memories; her son Byron (Tammy); her daughter Karen (Pete) Wreggitt; her daughter Colleen; granddaughter Tricia (Clayton) Beck; grandson Wade (Sharla) Gardiner; grandson Dale Scott; great-grandson Cade Beck; great-grandson Landon Gardiner; brother John Constable; brother Roy Constable; nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband Howard; her parents John and Adeline Constable; sister Adeline Constable; granddaughter Stephanie Gardiner. Irene was born in Borden, Saskatchewan on July 23, 1935. She grew up in Winnipeg and later attended Winnipeg Bible Institute. In 1956 Irene married Howard Gardiner and they ministered in three churches - Hudson Community Church, Portage la Prairie Baptist Church and Tabor Baptist Church. Irene was an accomplished pianist who achieved grade 10 at the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music. She passed on her love of music to the students she taught. In the early years, Irene had a passion for entertaining and spent many hours baking and cooking to the delight of the church congregation. In 1979 Howard and Irene returned to their roots in Hudson where they worked for a local mill until they retired. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service time. Interment and reception will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Center. The family would like to thank Dr. Moorhouse and the staff of Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances, Ontario for their wonderful care.
