DOROTHY MARY GAMBLE (nee BISHOP) Peacefully, on Sunday, April 5, 2009, Dorothy Mary Gamble passed away at Misericordia Place Personal Care Home. Born December 18, 1922, she was Sister #1 of five children born to Ted and Anne Bishop. She married George Gamble on October 25, 1946, and worked with him in the family business C. Gamble Electric for 37 years. Her cottage at Jessica Lake in the Whiteshell was a favourite place for family gatherings, fishing, and blueberry picking. She was a long-time honorary director of the Whiteshell Cottagers Association. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years, she had fond memories of her 1965 term as Worthy Matron, Jubilee Chapter # 27, as well as other fun-filled trips to attend Grand Sessions in several provinces and states. She will be missed by her daughter, Elaine Walker (Bill), and son Jim Gamble (Ingrid), seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, her sisters, Freda Granger (Bill), Angela Miller (Garth), Iris Shrimpton, and brother Bryan Bishop (Margo) and their families. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1983. The family would like to thank Homecare and the staff at Misericordia Interim Care (Cedar Grove) and Misericordia Place (Robin Way) for their compassionate care. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home. Viewing at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to The Eastern Star Chalet, in care of General Office, 525 Cathcart St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3R 0S6, or The Alzheimer's Society or charity of your choice.
