DAMASE GEORGE DUFRESNE On April 6th, 2009, Damase George Dufresne devoted husband of Ilene (Desrochers) passed away at Ste. Anne Hospital in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. Damase is the loving father of Norbert (Glenda), Raynald, Lise (Terry Trent), Marc and Mitch. Doting grandfather of Aurea (Hugh Jensson), Angela (Peter Boucha), the late Nichole (Bradley Boucha), Monique (Dennis Hagen): great grandfather of Rochelle, Jake and Nicholas Jensson; Hudson, Charlene, Clark, Luc and Marlee Boucha; Bradley David Boucha and stepdaughter April Jensson. Damase is survived by two brothers, Lucien and Joseph, and one sister Agnes. He was predeceased by three brothers, Felix, Maurice and Fernand. In 1953, Damase married Ilene Desrochers in St. Boniface, then moved to Ontario to work as a contractor supplying pulpwood to the paper mill in Kenora. Later, he worked as pulpwood buyer for Dryden Paper, Dryden, Ontario. Over the years, he enjoyed cross country skiing and fishing in northern Ontario lakes. After retirement in 1991, Damase joined the Seniors Curling Club in Keewatin and played golf at Beauty Bay. Politics always held a special interest for him along with human rights and fairness for all. Great discussions were the order of the day on many occasions at family gatherings. In 2004, Dan and Ilene moved to a 55+ residential area, Paradise Village, in Ste. Anne, Manitoba. The family of Damase Dufresne would be pleased to have you join us in a Celebration of Life in honour of Dan on Thursday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m., at the Notre Dame de Lorette R.C. Church, Lorette, Manitoba; Father Armand Le Gal presiding. Please join us for refreshments afterwards in the Lorette Parish Hall and share fond memories.
