LEA JEAN BELANGER Peacefully on Monday, April 6, 2009 Lea Belanger passed away at the Tudor House Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Manitoba at the age of 79 years. She was born on July 29, 1929 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, an only child raised in Winnipeg by her parents Frank and Mabel McGowan, and her Aunt Gertie (who did not have any children of her own). Her summers were spent with her grandparents on an island outside of Kenora. Lea attended school at St. Mary's Academy and was married at 16 years of age. She was a young mother having the first of three children born to her at 17 years of age, Richard (1947) (Belinda), Bill (1948) and Susan Enders (1956) (Al). She also leaves to cherish her memory her five grandchildren, Erin, Jason, Trevor, Jarad, Casie and four great-grandchildren, Samantha, Riley, Brandon, and MacKenzie. Mother ultimately was a stay at home mother, until she returned to school and became a LPN (graduating 2nd in her class that year). She worked in personal care homes until her health deteriorated and she retired early. She resided in the same home since 1969, enjoyed knitting which she started at a very early age, and knit her first pair of socks at six years old. She was an animal lover, and had taken in many strays over the years. Her current love was her little dog Lucy a hybrid Maltese, her Budgie bird named Blue and a silver point Persian cat named Jamie . Mother had the opportunity to do a little bit of traveling as she enjoyed motoring off to different areas of North America. She loved the water, lakes, rivers and the sea. She was a private person by nature and had taken much pleasure in puttering and decorating her home. The family would like to thank the Tudor House staff for their kind and compassionate care of mother. There will be no formal service. Cremation has taken place.
