Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRED (FRIEDRICH) KARL OFFENLOCH It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Father and Opa, Fred (Friedrich) Karl Offenloch on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Dad passed away at his home in Boulder Bay (Beaconia). Dad is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Margot who passed away on February 18, 2009. He is survived by his children Robert (Donna), Linda, Roland (Catherine), and Roger (Kimberley); and six grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Jessica, Chris, Ryan, Ayden, Kyle and Lucas; as well as numerous relatives in Calgary, British Columbia, Manitoba, Milwaukee, and Germany. Dad was born in Ingelfingen, Germany on November 10, 1935. He apprenticed as a butcher at the young age of 12 and lived in various German and Swiss cities until immigrating to Canada in 1956. It was in Winnipeg in 1958 he met Margot, the love of his life. They were married on May 21, 1960. Margot and Fred built a cottage in Boulder Bay (Beaconia) where countless family memories were created and shared. Dad worked at Canada Packers for over 30 years, then at Forgan Meats until his retirement in 1996. In 2002 along with their dog Heidi, Mom and Dad made the cottage their permanent home. Dad truly loved the cottage life, and treasured the many friendships and memories along the way. Freddy boy was the first to lend a helping hand, and always put others before himself. Singing in the church choir brought him great joy, and he will be truly missed by all who knew him. A service, interment and reception to celebrate Dad's life will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Thalberg, Manitoba. (1 mile east of Hwy. 12 at mile 94N). Pallbearers will be his three sons, Robert, Roland, and Roger; his grandson Chris; Neil Bousquet, and Dave Yaworski. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Bis Spater Pops! We will always carry your memory in our hearts. You and Mom are together dancing! Aufwiedersehen! Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
