NORMAN WING HONG LAI After a lengthy illness, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of Norman on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Norman was 73 years old and lived in Winnipeg, MB for most of his adult life. Remaining to forever cherish Norman's memory are his loving wife, Edith Sau Kuen Lai of 40 years of marriage; daughters Jean, Lynn (Paul), Betty (Doug); and son, Carl; along with his grandchildren, Jazlyn, Andrew and Seth. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Mei-Ling Lai Born in Canton, China, Norman moved to Canada at the age of 20 years. He married Edith in January 1968 and they started a little Chinese Restaurant in 1972 called Lai's Garden Restaurant. Norman's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at U7 Seven Oaks Hospital. Donations in Norman's memory may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
