MARY PARKER Mary Parker passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Misericordia Health Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 91. Mary was born in Winnipeg and moved with her family to a farm near Plumas, Manitoba when she was nine. She began working away from home at an early age. She worked for Brownings at Ogilvy, at Moore's store in Plumas, and at the RM of Westbourne Office in Gladstone, before moving to the Bank of Montreal in Gladstone where she continued to work for 30 years until her retirement. Mary married Leslie Parker and they made their home in Gladstone for many years. Mary and Les enjoyed their home and their cottage at Clear Lake. They had many holiday trips through western Canada and the US and visited L.A. and Las Vegas. After retirement, Mary and Les moved to Neepawa where they lived until Les' death. Mary left Neepawa and moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. She handled the challenges of being up rooted at the age of 86 very well and soon made new friends in her apartment block. She lived there until illness forced her into hospital in October. Mary loved to bake and had immense patience with fancy cookies and desserts. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and baking and care packages . She enjoyed collecting recipes and could often be found reading cookbooks for something new to try . She was still making cookies at the age of 90! Mary was predeceased by her husband Les, her brothers William and Jack, her sisters Jean and Lillian and their spouses. She is survived by her sister-in-law Isabelle Gordon; nephews, Robert (Carol) Jenkins, Brian (Laurel) Rossnagel; nieces, Frances (Garry) Pierce and family, Maxine (Bob) Murray and family, Noreen Rossnagel. The family wishes to thank the staff of Cornish 2 at Misericordia for their patience and compassionate care of Mary in her last few months. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, Manitoba. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. White's Funeral Home Neepawa-Carberry in care of arrangements. (204) 476-2848
