MARIE (MAE) BORSA (nee Lemaire) 1911 - 2009 How fortunate we were to have had our dear mother and grandmother with us until the blessed age of 97, leaving us peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. She leaves to treasure her memory her daughter, Marlyn DeJonckheere; grandchildren, Darcie Kass, Rob DeJonckheere and Doug (Joan) DeJonckheere; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kayla Kass and Ryan and Adam DeJonckheere; her son Robert Borsa; daughter-in-law Marlene; grandchildren, James (Theresa) Borsa and Stacy (Ryan) Borkofsky; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Cole Borkofsky; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank in 1974; her brother Rene Lemaire in 1976; her brother Edward Lemaire in 1969; and her son-in-law, George DeJonckheere in 1995. Marie was born on November 12, 1911 to Alexis Lemaire and Amelie (Husson) who were one of the first settlers in Lac du Bonnet in the late 1880s. She moved to Winnipeg in 1939 and married Frank Borsa. They lived in St. Vital and St. Boniface all their lives. She was a great support for him during his employment with the CP Rail, travelling extensively and entertaining often, while raising their family. They were long-standing active members of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. In 1961 they bought a cottage in the Whiteshell where they spent as much time as possible with family and friends, giving us wonderful memories of the lake, fishing, swimming, and of course, the barbecues. Mother also enjoyed bowling and curling and won many trophies. She moved to Catherine Place in 1997 and then the Vista Park Lodge in 2003. The family wishes to thank the nurses at the Lodge for their care. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd. (off Warde Ave.) with interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rob and Doug DeJonckheere, Ryan and Adam DeJonckheere, James Borsa and Louis Harmel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity.
