ELEANOR (ELLA) K. PALMER On Friday, April 10, 2009, Ella passed away peacefully at Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 97 years after a brief illness. Remaining to forever cherish Ella's memory are her son Frank (Marnie); and granddaughters Carolyne and Kyleigh who will deeply miss her. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1981; her parents George and Elizabeth Mudie; and siblings Jack, Bill, Meg, Chrissy and Betty. Born on May 5, 1911 in Dundee, Scotland, Ella came to Winnipeg with her family at a young age. She was very athletic and loved all sports, never wanting to miss any grandkids' games. Ella enjoyed living in Northern Ontario for 17 years with her husband. They returned to Winnipeg in 1952 where she worked in Accounting for Perth's Laundry until her retirement at age 73. Ella was an animal lover who had taken in many strays and will be missed by Dickie the Budgie. Her wonderful sense of humour will also be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, with Major Winnie Perrin, presider. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ella's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3.
