Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN MAY MARTIN June 9, 1914 - April 10, 2009 With sad, but thankful, hearts, we mark the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Evelyn, on Good Friday, April 10, 2009, in her 95th year. She leaves as her legacy, two sons, Michael (Jackie) and James (Pat); grandchildren, Sharon (Rob), Suzanne (Mitch), Patrick (Sandra), Heather (Ron), Nadine (Todd), Tracey (Roger); Simone (Daryll); Michael and Brooker; great-grandchildren, Brett, Tyler, Matthew, Megan, Dylan, Taylor, Trent, Mary, Brendan, Tyler, Paige, Braden, Logan, Daynah and Julien. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in December, 1975, her brothers, Cecil and Paul, and two siblings, Grace and Paul, in early childhood. Evelyn was born in Montreal, PQ, on June 9, 1914. She came to Winnipeg to be married in November, 1939 and she lived happily in the small house her husband, Mike, built for her on Worth Street for some 50 years. She was a long-time member of the congregation at St. Thomas Anglican Church and shared her deep personal faith and spiritual gifts in Sunday School, the Catherine Anne Guild, Altar Guild and Guild of Health. Those who knew Evelyn will remember her zest for life and the joy she showed in all her pursuits. She possessed a very outgoing and sociable nature, always wanting to be a part of every occasion, party or event. She gleaned immense pleasure by knitting layettes, sweaters and innumerable outfits for her grandchildren. She dearly loved all of her grandchildren and gave of her time to them without measure. They fondly remember weekends and holidays when she would come to spend time with them at the family cottages in Ingolf and Ponemah or when they would each go to her house for one-on-one sleepovers . She also enjoyed, as much as possible, the time she spent with her great-grandchildren, especially those occasions when they entertained her with their dancing and singing. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Middlechurch Home for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Evelyn in her last years. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations can be made to a favourite charity. Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 16 in St. Thomas Anglican Church, 1567 William Ave. W. at Worth Street. Following the service, Evelyn will be laid to rest with her husband, Michael, in Brookside Cemetery. Evelyn's loving and generous spirit will be forever cherished and treasured in our hearts. WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT! 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
