VIOLET BRASS (nee ODDNAY FJOLA BJORNSSON) June 7, 1912 April 3, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Violet Brass on Friday April 3, 2009 at Eagle Ridge Manor, Port Moody, BC. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) after 49 years of marriage. Violet is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Schwabe of Winnipeg, MB and daughters, Adelaide Winkler of Coquitlam, BC, Eileen Flett and husband Gary of Savory Island, BC and Linda Cobb of Burnaby, BC; and her son Roy Brass and wife Marg of Langley, BC. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Tanya Winkler and husband Rene Hernandez, Dennis Flett, Derek Flett and wife Andrea, Neil Flett and wife Jenny, Jason Cobb and her great- grandchildren, Brodie, Jared, Kelly, Isis, Kia, Evan, Sierra and Leo. Violet was born in Winnipeg, MB and lived in Selkirk, MB for 88 years and then moved to Coquitlam, BC. Violet was a generous and giving person who always put others before herself and loved her family and was forever taking care of us all. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and also did a lot of quilting, creating beautiful quilts for her family and for a local charity. A memorial service was held April 9, 2009 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby, BC and will be followed by a private burial service of her ashes at St. Andrews Church, St. Andrews, MB at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Eagle Ridge Manor for there excellent loving care and concern provided to our mother during her years there. Donations may be made in Violet's memory to the CNIB, 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3.
