SHIRLEY LEONA RUSSELL (nee SMITH) It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Shirley Leona Russell on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, at the proud age of 90 years. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1964, and has long mourned his untimely passing. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Gary and his wife Pat; by her daughter Elaine; by her sisters, Susie and Kay and her brother Reid; by her former daughter-in-law Emma; by her seven grandchildren, Yvan, Valentina, Alexei, Laressa, Sylvie, Maya and Jonah; and by her great-granddaughter Ilyana. She will also be sadly missed by her circle of friends from Sparling United Church, where she has attended faithfully for many decades, and by her wonderful neighbours over 50 years on Dominion Street. Shirley was a caring and devoted person, who had kind thoughts for all her friends, and an irresistible impulse to take responsibility and do good things for them. She has deeply appreciated all their kindnesses over these many years. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, followed by interment at Brookside Cemetery after a short reception. Those who were initially advised of a different location, please take note. Shirley supported many charities. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favourites, the Canadian Wildlife Federation, or a charity of your choice. Thanks are due to the staff at Deer Lodge Hospital for caring kindly for her in her final days. Her decline was mercifully short, and they strived to keep her as comfortable and content as possible. 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Ample parking behind funeral home Condolences: www.bardal.ca
