PHILIP THIESSEN Peacefully, on Saturday, April 11, 2009, Philip went home to be with the Lord at the age of 96 years. Left to mourn are his wife of 69 years, Tina, sister Mary, daughter Lorna (Dick Giesbrecht), daughter Eileen (Gus Brewer), daughter-in-law Diane, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Harry, son Jack, and daughter-in-law Marlene. One of eight siblings, Philip was born on June 6, 1912 in Lowe Farm, Manitoba. He and Tina moved to Winnipeg in 1971 where Phil worked as a machine operator until his retirement in 1977. Phil loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing his mouth organ, playing games (especially ROOK), and was one of the Toronto Blue Jays' greatest fans. A celebration of Philip's life will be held following burial on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Fellowship Chapel, 465 Osborne Street. Viewing will take place on Friday evening, April 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street (parking available behind building).
