GERALD GEOFFERY MCALLEN (nee MCMULLAN) July 18, 1966 - April 10, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gerald McAllen at the Grace Hospital at the age of 42. Gerald was predeceased by his mother in law Dorthy Allen in 2008. He is survived by his loving husband Glen, his mother Jude, his father Geoffery, his sister Sharon (Darryl), his sister Maryanne (Patrick), his sister Michelle, his brother Bill. He will also be missed by his nephews Sean and Randy, nieces Chelsea, Jasmine, Melissa, Rileigh and Laighton. Step sons Tyler (Kathlene), Cory (Kim) and his beautiful grandchildren Kailey and Keir. He began his life at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. His life journeys took him to Vancouver and Toronto before returning to Winnipeg to where he pursued his passion for hair at Pollaks. Upon graduation he began his career at Eaton's. After Eaton's he went to Singletons for a time until he found Magicuts in August of 2001 where he worked his way up to being a Salon Manager. His greatest accomplishments was that he completed his Master Colorist in 2008 and the rest is history. Along the way he met his partner Glen who eventually became his legal husband on May 21, 2005. They opened their home(s) to various animals, fish, family, friends and foster children during their time together. Gerald's passing will leave an enormous hole in the hearts of his friends, family and clients. His style, bigger than life personality and sarcastic wit have left a mark on those who knew and loved him. A very special thanks goes out to Keith and his partner Darren and Glen and his partner Paul, for the loyal support and love they shared with Glen during this trying time. Glen would also like to thank the staff at Winner's on Regent and other stores for there support and kind words, to Laurie Kennedy who withstood Gerald's humour, and her girls who always had so much fun when visiting the salon...he truly adored these girls. To Glen's Manager, Jennifer Gaunt and District Manager Jo-Ann Boles, a very special thank you for their ongoing support and words of encouragement. And last but not least, to Derek for providing the shoulder for Glen to cry on, you truly are a wonderful friend. His services will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway on Friday, April 17th at 10:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Village Clinic or The Humane Society. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Send expressions of sympathy at www.mem.com
