Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERTRUDE EVELYN HAINSWORTH (nee BATES) September 3, 1913 - April 13, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Gertrude Hainsworth. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ted Bates, second husband, Tobe Hainsworth; brothers George Skene and Ed Skene. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Murray Bates, daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Peter Robinson, grandsons Scott and Matthew Robinson and sister Kay Tompsett. Gertrude was born in Deloraine, MB on September 13, 1913 to parents John and Anne Skene. She married Ted Bates and started to raise her children in the Deloraine community until the sudden death of her husband. She moved to Winnipeg and took in dressmaking and university students for several years. Gertrude was on her own for 25 years, till she married Tobe Hainsworth. They moved to Maple Ridge in 1978. Gertrude loved her family and took a great interest in everything they did, especially following her grandson Scott's football career and watching Matthew's soccer games. She had great sewing skills and loved the years she had with her craft group at St. John the Divine. Gertrude will always be remembered for her loving kindness and generosity and life-long devotion to her family. You are forever in our hearts, we love you and know that you are at peace. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at St. John the Divine Anglican Church at 1:00 p.m., Maple Ridge, B.C. Our family extends thanks and gratitude to Dr. Craig Lytle and Ridge-Meadows Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to our mother. Condolences may be sent to: www.mapleridgefuneral.ca
