Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HENRY BLACKHAM It is with deep regret we announce the sudden passing of John Blackham. John passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg Manitoba at age 68 years. Remaining to forever cherish John's memory are his son Chris; sister Marion; and grandsons Braeden and Declan; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father Victor-Charles; mother Isabella; sister Margaret; and beloved wife Ray. Born in Toronto Ontario on October 28, 1940, it was while living in Halifax that he met his wife Rayola Goodwin. They married on February 13, 1971. During their marriage Ray and John lived in Dartmouth and Greenwood Nova Scotia finally settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1984. On November 13, 1975 they were thrilled with the birth of their only child Chris. John took great delight in the birth of his first grandson Braeden on November 5, 2003. Adding to his delight was the birth of his second grandson Declan on December 7, 2007. John had spent many years in service to his country both as an active service member and later in life as a civilian. He will be missed by those he knew and worked with. John had a love of many sports; however he had a special passion for golfing with friends. On Monday, April 20 John's funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, April 24 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Woods Harbour, Nova Scotia. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Health Science Center and to the Winnipeg Fire Department and the Winnipeg Emergency Medical Services. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to The Rosalin Nickerson CARE Fund care of Shelly D'Eon RR#1 Shag Harbour, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia B0W 3B0. John was a kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
