DORA MAZO Dora peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Maples Personal Care Home, at the age of 99. Dora was predeceased by her husband Joe Mazo, her parents Rivka and Jacob Labovitch, her brother Abrushka Labovitch, her sisters Anne Dailey, Minnie Handler and Rose Shapiro. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Robbie Mazo, and her granddaughter Jana Rubin (Sean Monaco), as well as nieces and nephews. Dora was born in Russia, May 28, 1909, and moved to Winnipeg in 1923 with her two sisters. She then moved to Moosehorn, Manitoba living with her father and sisters. She later moved back to Winnipeg where she began her long career as a sewing machine operator. Dora was a member of Pioneer Woman and Winnipeg League for the Hard of Hearing. She will be remembered as a kind, loving and quick witted woman whose sense of humour always had everyone laughing. A graveside service was held Friday, April 3, 2009, at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery officiated by Rabbi Larry Lander. Pallbearers were Michael Handler, Jeffrey Kushner, Marvin Pearlman, Fred Switzer, Joey Dutkevich and Randy Guest. A special thank you to Carmelita and Karen for all the years of love and care. Donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one's choice.
