Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD HANS STEVENS June 7, 1921 - November 22, 2008 Harold passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the age of 87 years. He is predeceased by his parents William (Captain Bill) Stevens and Ingibjorg (Emma) Stevens; two brothers John and Robert and sister Margaret. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Muriel Marley Stevens; stepdaughter Carol Gray (Gord Williams); his stepgrandchildren with special fondness for Kimberlee and John; as well as numerous cousins and friends. He served in the navy in the Second World War with the British Home Fleet in the North Atlantic aboard H.M.S Kent and in the Pacific on the H.M.C.S Ontario. Harold was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Selkirk and Gimli Branches for over sixty years and with Masons for over fifty years. He was also a Shriner for many years with the Khartum Temple. Harold and Muriel enjoyed golfing, old time dancing, traveling and spending winters in the sun. Special thanks are given to Joanne O'Hara and nephew Bob Hadley for the closeness they shared with Harold. We would also like to say a special thank you to the nursing staff at The Gimli Health Centre and the Gimli Betel Home for their care and compassion of Harold. A memorial service will be held for Harold on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be sent to The Shriners Burn Fund, 1155 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9 or to a charity of your choice.
