She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Maurice; and daughter Mary Woloski (Michael) of Charlottesville, Virginia; and sons Lawrence of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Mark of Kelowna, British Columbia; and grandchildren Rachel Woloski-Wood (Jonathan) and John Woloski of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Mary Sanders and Lee Sanders of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and sister, Kay Portree of Selkirk, Manitoba and brother, Stan Netskar of Quadra Island, BC and Selkirk, Manitoba. She is sadly predeceased by her daughter, Jane Sanders; sister, Mary Roznik and brothers, Joe Netskar and Mike Netskar and her parents John and Annie Nieckarz. Frances was the youngest of six children. She grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba. She completed grade 11 and worked nine years as a stenographer for the Canadian National Railroad in Winnipeg. She had a love of staying physically active. She enjoyed skiing (cross-country) and was a member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club participating in canoeing competitions in her youth. She met and married Maurice Skuba in 1954. Together they had four children. Frances was an active member in the Catholic parishes she attended in Winnipeg and Selkirk, Manitoba and in Kelowna, British Columbia. She enjoyed singing in the choir when she was younger and was a life-long member of the Catholic Women's League. Often Frances lent a willing hand to assist with lunch preparation for funerals and administering communion to those in nursing homes. She enjoyed her children and was tremendously encouraging throughout their schooling, 4-H Club activities and sports endeavors. She also loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. Frances was a warm, caring person and a good listener. Although quiet and reserved, she was an easy person to converse with. She had a good dose of common sense and reasoning skills. Frances had a lovely smile and she wore it often. Most importantly, she found strength in her faith in God and prayer and this had seen her through many trials and tribulations in her life. Prayers were recited Friday, April 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Interment followed in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the British Columbia Alzheimer Society. The family thanks the staff at the Cottonwoods Care Centre for the care and attention they have shown Frances (mom) over the years. It is greatly appreciated. Dear Frances (mom), we love you and will miss you. Rest in peace. I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord; whoever believes in me will never die.
