MICHAEL NEGRICH Michael Andrew Negrich, our beloved husband, uncle, grand and great-grand uncle, passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg during the evening of April 15, 2009. Michael was born in Venlaw, Manitoba on November 21, 1916, the fifth of seven children of Justyna Dzumaga Negrich and Andrew Samuel Negrich. After graduating from the Dauphin Collegiate, Michael followed his two older brothers in a teaching career, a profession for which he showed great aptitude even as a child on the family farms in Venlaw and Gilbert Plains. Michael took his initial teaching education at Normal School in Winnipeg, then later at the universities of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Miami. He taught until his retirement in 1982. Michael has also been involved in numerous religious, educational and cultural organizations throughout his life. Michael married Nadia Skremetka in Winnipeg on March 11th 1967, and they celebrated their 42nd anniversary last month. Michael is survived by his wife Nadia, and three generations of nieces and nephews to whom he was a much loved uncle. Michael was predeceased by his four sisters, Marion Tanoski, Nell McLean, Eugenie Lodge, and Olive Sanders, and two brothers, John Negrych, and Harvey Nelson. A memorial service celebrating Michael's life will be held at a later date. A further notice will follow. Nadia respectfully and gratefully declines flowers to the house.
