JANET VICTORIA WEINTZ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandma, oma, and friend on April 17, 2009 at the age of 77. Janet is survived by her children Garry and Luanne, her grandchildren Janalee (Craig) and Jason (Cheryl) and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Alfred, parents John and Juhasia Homick, brothers Michael and Peter and sisters Alexandra and Helen. Janet was born February 18, 1932 in Miami, Manitoba and grew up in a number of small Manitoba communities. After graduating from high school, she married the love of her life Alfred. The door was always open in Janet and Alfred's home as they shared a love of entertaining their family and friends. Sadness befell Janet and her family too soon with the sudden loss of her beloved Alfred as theirs was a love to be envied. Over the years, Janet's passion for learning lead her down numerous career paths. She found happiness with many jobs such as a florist, and teacher, but none gave her as much joy as being a nanny. Watching over Tyler and Courtney as they grew was a job she held dear and spoke of often. The years that followed found her once again in a quest to gain more knowledge. As Janet was such a creative person, she attended numerous classes that ranged from photography, flower arranging, and cake decorating, to ballroom dancing and bowling. At age 58, Janet returned to school and in 1990 graduated as a certified Nurses Aide. Although Janet enjoyed many hobbies, spending time at the lake was her favourite thing to do. During her many summers spent at Camp Neustadt, she gained numerous lifelong and dear friendships. She passed along this love of the lake to her grandchildren and they spent every summer vacation out there with her. They fondly remember that, because of her love of cooking and entertaining, there would always be friends joining them at the table on those warm summer days. Although illness slowed her pace in recent years, Janet was always a very independent and strong woman. With her son's assistance, she was able to maintain her way of life until her deteriorating health forced her into hospital. Janet will be missed by all whose hearts she touched. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. Viewing one half hour prior to service. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery and reception to follow. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven, and bring you home again .
