Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNEIL TARREN 1955 - 2009 Sadly on Sunday, April 19 on the anniversary of his father George's death, Neil Tarren passed away at the age of 53 after a lengthy and heroic battle with Cancer. Neil left to mourn his beautiful wife Susan, his daughter Sheri Borgfjord, son-in-law Mark Borgfjord, his mother Lal Tarren, brother Drew, and sister-in-law Gill, as well as sister Linda, and his brother-in-law Ray. Neil also left behind nephews Bradley, Callum, and Gavin; as well as his three grandchildren whom were the light of his life - Laila Rose, Trevor John, and his namesake Jayson Neil. We would also like to thank all of the special people in Neil's life with whom this whole journey would not have been possible. Words cannot describe our gratitude. Mike and Kathy, Craig, Cecille, Cameron, and Aaron, Al and Kathy, Robin and Candace, Paul and Katie, and John and Rosanne. As well as all the amazing doctors we had and all the wonderful staff on the St. Boniface Palliative Care Ward. Neil was born in Darlington, England on June 15 1955. At 26 he came to Canada in 1981 to pursue a career with Dominion Bridge where he developed many lifelong friendships. He later moved onto Waywest drafting, and further onto Deuchar drafting in Lethbridge Alberta; finally settling back in Winnipeg at Condraft, where he then purchased his home on Leighton Avenue. One of the projects Neil was particularly proud of was his work on the Portage Avenue sky walks. Neil was very devoted to his family and eventually decided on opening his own company to allow for more time with them. He began installing pools and doing home renovations. Neil was very well known for his generosity, and could always be seen building or fixing something and generally it was for someone else. His way of life made you want to be a better person, he was always teaching you something and learning new things in the process. Among Neil's many interests, he was always an outdoors person. These included camping, diving, sitting by the fire in his yard, barbequing on his deck and often with a drink in hand. Neil also loved to cook, and all who knew him would never give up an opportunity to enjoy a meal with him. Neil was an avid animal lover, not only of his own but of any animal in need of love. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in Neil's memory to D'Arcy's Arc 888-2266, 730 B Century St. Neil was described by many as indestructible and he was. We often called him our indestructible hero. Neil loved life and was considered a best friend by many. He fought so hard and so long but unfortunately he was needed elsewhere. We will miss you more than you know and forever hold you in our hearts. Cheers me dears ! Neil requested a private family cremation, however a Celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, April 23, at 1:00 p.m. upstairs at the West Kildonan Legion located at Hartford and Main; all are welcome to attend.
