CHARLEMAGNE (CHARLIE) VERMETTE It is with a great sense of loss that we announce the passing of Charlie on April 21, 2009 at the Concordia Hospital. He leaves to mourn his passing, Dolorosa, his loving wife and life partner of 63 years and their four children Marc (Sylvia) of Lethbridge, Yves (Sonia) of Saskatoon, Luc, and Monique (Jim) Derby of Winnipeg; five grandchildren Paul (Jenny), Kenneth, Michael (Tanya), Eroca (Grant), Jeneffer and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Gerard (France), brother-in-law Marcel Valois (Florence), sisters-in-law Denise Langhan and Antoinette Valois; as well as, numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Henri and Marguerite (Gladu) Vermette, brothers Honoré, Alexandre and sisters Jeanne Audet, Marie-Anne Stevenson, Emma Gobeil and Thérèse Proulx, grandson Justin and daughter-in-law Jewel. Charile was born November 22, 1923 and raised in Otterburne, MB. He dedicated 42 years of his working career to Canadian Pacific Railway and an additional three years with the C.T.C., retiring in 1988. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff, the companion care and palliative care providers for the expertise and compassion shown during his illness at Concordia Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 341 Munroe Ave. at Brazier St. on Friday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Vital Cemetery.
