Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryINEZ MCMORRAN December 2, 1911 - April 17, 2009 Peacefully and with dignity, at the age of 97, Inez Muriel Watson McMorran passed away at Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg on April 17, 2009. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Margaret Wilcock and Clare Simpson of Winnipeg, and Janis McMorran of Starbuck; grandchildren Craig Wilcock (Tammy), Garnet Wilcock (Julie), Nancy Guertin (Chris), Julie Simpson (Rich), and Katherine Simpson; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Frank Wallace, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Inez was predeceased by her husband Lyall in 1964, only brother Daniel Craig in 1941, sister-in-law Lillian Wallace in 1992, and son-in-law Allan Simpson in 1998. Inez was born and raised in Dauphin, the daughter of Daniel and Margaret Craig. Following high school she attended Dauphin Normal School, and began her teaching career at Eclipse country school, and later at Mackenzie School, Dauphin. A lifelong interest in drama was nurtured during her association with the Dauphin Little Theatre. In 1941 Inez married Lyall McMorran, owner and pharmacist of the Reston Drug Store, and together they made their home in Reston. Inez involved herself in the community, encouraging and organizing concerts, drama, skating revues, folk dancing, and festival participation. Many were influenced by her firm, yet gentle guidance. Inez was a Life Member of The Order of the Eastern Star , helping to institute a Reston Chapter in 1945 and serving as its first Worthy Matron. Inez was an active member of the Reston United Church. She served as Sunday School teacher, UCW member, and Junior Choir director. For 40 years she sang in the Senior Choir, serving as choir leader for over 20 years. Following Lyall's death in 1964, Inez resumed teaching in Reston, serving as teacher and principal, retiring in 1971. Always a favourite place was the family cottage at Clear Lake, where she enjoyed her summers. Butter tarts at the White House and drives to The Cove were enjoyed almost daily. The cottage, with a lifetime of memories, continues to be a treasured home for her family. Inez was a member of the Drop In Centre and a volunteer at the Reston Personal Care Home. Writing letters was her late-night pastime. Inez lived in Reston until 1999, at which time she moved to Starbuck to be with her daughter, Janis. In 2002 she moved to the Winnipeg Convalescent Home, and in 2003 to Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg where she resided until her death. Mom, it's been a long, long trail...a-winding. You have been an inspiration to us with your strength, courage, and constant love. But to everything there is a season, and we accept that your time has come. May you find perfect peace, where joys never cease, in that place known to God alone. And may He hold you tenderly in His care --until we meet again. The family thanks all staff at Golden Links Lodge for their care and compassion. Thank you also to the residents and families for their support and to our longtime Reston friends, Verna and John Olenick for all they have done. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Reston United Church. A Memorial Service will be held at Golden Links Lodge, Winnipeg at a future date. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made to Reston United Church, Reston, MB, R0G 2P0, Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2N 3Z6, or to a charity of one's choice.
